Ok here are some simple rules you must ALWAYS follow when writing to a celeb in hope of a signed photo.

• Be Polite ! - Always thank them for reading your letter, and be generally polite - 'please can i have a signed photo' - gives of a good impression !
• Keep it short ! - I recommend keeping it to A4 at maximum,any longer and the celebrity will lose interest, they don't have much time remember!
• Personalise it ! - Your their number one fan ? Hello thousands of people say that to them all the time ! So drop the cliche's and tell them why you like them what YOU find interesting about them etc.
• Give your address ! Make sure your address is CLEARLY given (even if sending a SASE i always put my address on the letter aswell)
• Respect them ! These are celebrities after all ! So be nice !
• If you collect autograph's don't tell them !! They don't want to be another one on a collection they want to be someones pride and joy !
• ENJOY IT ! its a hobby after all ! something for fun , something ot make you smile when your envelope comes back through the door ! So just enjoy it !

Now for some advice, this is just what i recommend others may say different ! Also some things you might like to write about.

• Want to say a bit about yourself ? - They like to hear about their fans but they don't want life stories ! So maybe say how you initially heard about them, what your interests are , your age, name that sort of thing.
• Favourites ? - They love to hear your favourites, depending on what they are famous for, for example favourite song of yours, favourite movie, favourite part in a movie, favourite line, favourite appearance things like that.
• If you don't know much about the actor or whoever do a bit or research you need to know what your talking about !
• If you don't know an address you can either email me and i will let you know or use www.fanmail.biz which is the site i use.
• Feel free to ask questions, you could get a letter back ! So ask all those burning questions you want to know the answers to! Although they don't need a full blown interview !
• Wish the celeb luck , its polite and has a good effect to say good luck for the future at the bottom of your letter, or be specific eg good luck in the world cup to a sports player.
• Don't go overboard ! They don't want to know you are madly in love with them you will scare them off !
• Include a Self Addressed Stamped Envelope (SASE) as it has more chance of a reply, although i have an American friend who only sends Self Addressed Envelopes and has still had great success.
• Why not decorate your envelope ? It makes it stand out and personalizes it , they like change from the normal boring letters !
• It is always best to actually ask for a signed photo as some people just send to write to them, ask politely though !
